Rare, Rare, Rare! Klafter & Sobel Icy Rhinestone Brooch

This is a beautifully designed winter branch with hanging ice signed Klafter & Sobel. In a pot metal setting, bright pave rhinestones line the branch, from which nearly every other shape of stone--big ovals, chatons, squares and a marquise--drop.  Condition is Very Good+. The rhinestones, though aging and with minor peppering, are still brilliant, having lasted though the years like Eisenberg stones. The brooch measures 2 1/2" wide, by 1 1/4" deep. It is absolutely stunning. Because the jewelry is so rare, I may never get my hands on another, so let's make hay while the sun shines. Signed in back. Enjoy! $65

Festive Ruby Red Rhinestone Flower Brooch

This long stemmed flower glows with a wealth of deep ruby rhinestones, long sexy navettes prong set into a dark gold tone setting. The flower head is concave so the stones strike sparks off one another.  At the center of the flower head is a single prong set chaton. This vintage beauty is 3" tall and in Excellent condition. Vintage Cathe Yellow Glass Rhinestone Brooch with Painted Roses

Signed in back, Cathe. This fabulous brooch  is oh so femme. Think of how it will work on so many spring and summer fabrics from white linen and lavender silk to an old jean jacket or even a cotton cloche hat. Check out the maroon roses painted on the golden yellow teardrops and round M&M shaped cabs! The paint is raised on the yellow jewels and each flower is different; they were done by hand. Stones are prong set in serrated gold tone fittings in several layers. The brooch measures 1 7/8" x 2 1/2", rising a good 1/2" above the pin stem. Excellent condition. $35

Two Vintage Eisenberg Fire & Ice Ribbon Curl Brooches

Isn't it so much more fun to have not just one Eisenberg brooch, but two of them?! This plump little pair of bouquets are studded with prong set navettes and pear shaped clear crystal rhinestones, enhanced by ribbon curls of pave "icing," all in silvertone. Each pin is 1 3/4" tall but chunky, sitting over 1/2" from the pin stem. Each jewel is in Very Good condition, with minor darkening around the edges of some of the stones, which I needed a 5x loupe to find. Each is signed in back Eisenberg Ice(c). Singly or together, they sparkle like the north star!  $85

Limoges Lady Portrait Porcelain Brooch

Reverse

Limoges Painted Porcelain Dark-Haired Lady Portrait Pin

This old trombone catch brooch from Limoges France depicts one of the most popular costume jewelry ladies of all times--an Empress, to bring out the Queen in you. These were made just after WWII, when Europe was impoverished. The jewels were imported to the U.S. and the sales, along with other imported items, helped rebuild France. The porcelain oval has hand-painted embellishments over the transfer, with the dark haired lady as demure as ever and her Mona Lisa smile as enigmatic! The porcelain is bezel set into the standard 1940s twisted wire frame; it fastens in back with a trombone clasp. Measurements are 1 7/8" x 1 3/8". Very Good condition. Marked "Limoges France Unique," a special marking. $45

Vintage Coro Pierced Bow Brooch

Reverse

Beautiful Vintage Pegasus Coro Cut-Out Bow

These gorgeous old pierced metal, or cut-out jewels are getting harder to find, especially in condition as nice is this beauty. The pierced decorations and prong set ruby-red faceted glass give the brooch a sassy look. The golden finish is shining and bright, and intact except for some scratches on the back. The ruby red stone is bright with deep color, Signed in back on the inside of a bow loupe is Coro in script with the Pegasus mark but no copyright mark. Excellent condition. $35

Art Deco Galalith Chrome Bow Brooch

Reverse

Art Deco Plastic and Chrome Stylized Bow Brooch

From early last century comes this remarkable brooch, streamlined and styled with the flapper in mind. I believe the vintage plastic to be celluloid, but it could be Galalith; a smell test reveals only a simichrome smell, which has been used to polish the piece. For flappers,  back & red look sassy together along with the polished chrome applied to the plastic. Back offers open C-clasp which is part of the brooch, not glued on. The brooch is 2 1/2" wide and in Very Good condition, with no fading of color at all. An Art Deco bow at a great price! $35

Maltese Cross Carnelian Jade Brooch

Reverse

Medieval Look Maltese Cross Carnelian & Jade Glass

Here's a great, unusual brooch in pewter openwork, which has the look of old sterling. A large central piece of glass that looks like genuine carnelian is set openback in half prongs accented by jade glass openback boat shapes at each of the four stations and accented by bright emerald green rhinestones. Is this an unsigned Miracle? Seems like a Medieval Revival piece. Circa date is 1960s. The 2" brooch is heavy for its size and will make a very striking statement on a sweater or with a scarf. Excellent condition. $38

Antique hand painted porcelain brooch

Antique Hand Painted Violets Pin

Most of these precious pieces were once warm gifts from artists to their friends. Many of the artists were women like you and I using patterns that could be purchased or found in the craft publications of the day. The type of flower was meant to convey a particular message--in the case of violets, faithfulness. This is 1 5/8" oval all hand painted painted porcelain showing a deluge of violets and greenery over a glazes of yellow and mint green. A swirl of golden paint frames the edges and appears partially in front on one side. The gilded prong setting is equipped with an open C-clasp. Overall very good condition. Enjoy this violet delight! $48

In the mid to late 1940s when the dark days of WWII were over and all our boys came home, it must have seemed that the sun shown once again. Sunburst pins became very popular and were recommended as a must in a fashion magazine or two. Now, these are often called atomic, but the styles were not known as atomic back in the '40s. Here is a blazing layered example, with multiple long and short goldtone sunrays reaching out from the base. It might have been made in the early 1950s, during a short period of time when multicolor rhinestones similar to 1930s jewels came back in style. This is a large brooch at 2 1/2" in diameter and rising 1/2 inch above the pin stem! It is made in three layers, all studded with siam red, bright green, emerald green, purple, aqua and two shades of blue. At the very top is a prong set sapphire blue rhinestone. The style is almost modern, with textured golden base and a raised bow shaped platform decorated with granulation and slender line decoration. Two bezel set swirled green glass stones accent the center. The brooch clasps with an open C-clasp. The jewel is 3 1/2" long, 7/8" wide, and would look wonderful by itself pointing to the décolletage, or just under the collar, perhaps with a cameo beneath, or another smaller round or oval pin--that's the way the ladies wore such pins 100 years ago.
