Sparkling "Black Diamond" Rhinestone Brooch

These decadently dark rhinestones were made popular by Weiss Corporation during the 1950's and were called "black diamonds." This simple leaf brooch is made bewitching with a mix of 3 shades of gray ovals, marquise cuts, teardrops and sparkling chatons, all prong set in a sleek silvertone setting. An unsigned designer piece, the 2 3/8" long brooch is in Excellent condition. Wear day or night with any solid color (or how about stripes?) Enjoy. $38

The brooch is BIG at 3 7/8" tall with the flowerhead 2 3/4" in diameter. A bright spash of '60s color, to make you and everyone around you feel a little bit lighter. Vintage Park Lane Gala Brooch with Huge Rhinestones

This large crescent shaped pin by Parklane offers six mirror-backed large faceted glass stones with the purple emerald cut (3/4" long,) and green teardrop--also 3/4"--being the two larges stones. In addition is a hyacinth chaton, a yellow emerald cut, a ruby red oval, and a sapphire blue teardrop. Stones are set in a "hammered" goldtone openback setting. This flashing jewel is a nice size at 2 1/2" x 2 1/8" and will definitely draw attention with a solid color ball gown, jean jacket, or shirt. Marked PARKLANE on a raised oval in back, this highly collectible pin is in Excellent condition. $38

Delightful '30s Multicolor Flower & Rhinestone Brooch

Circa 1930. Let this pretty pin give you an old fashioned glow for that old fashioned guy. Chromium plated openwork with an extra tier of swirls and lilies gives this white metal brooch its voluptuous shape. Diamante stones wink from their beaded settings. The jewel is filled with little Czech plastic flowers in multicolor--pink, yellow, mint green, baby blue and lavender, each being centered with a sparkling rhinestone. It appears that a prior owner re-glued the flowers and their rhinestone centers, for some of the clear glue can be seen with a 5x loupe. The brooch is 2 5/8" wide x almost 1 1/2" tall. Overall condition is Very Good. $48

Art Nouveau Glass Cameo in Enameled Setting

This unusual and exquisite cameo shows a full length robed lady in ivory colored glass. She sits in a bezel within an openwork brass setting decorated with simple scrollwork and wonderful enamels in bluer, green and a butterscotch color. Equipped with an open C-clasp, this impressive jewel measures 2 1/2" from top to bottom. I looked it over with a 5x loupe and could not find any chips in the enamel, although there is very minor wear and the usual darkening of the brass metal. This irreplaceable antique is in Very Good+ condition. Make it yours for $68.

Sterling Craft by Coro WWII Retro Flower Brooch with Purple Cab

Here is not only a gracefully designed sterling brooch, but also a great example of WWII resourceful use of materials--a thin sterling vermeil r pin with a Lucite cab. See 1942 the A. Katz patent D132527 drawing here. Once the war started base metals were turned in and sterling, which was not needed for war equipment, was used in costume jewelry. Because of the shortages in European stones, many costume jewelers turned to Lucite plastics. This beauty is in absolutely top condition. Perhaps a young man gave it his girl before he left for war and she vowed never to wear it until he returned! At 3 1/2" tall, you are sure to be noticed in this innocent looking beauty with a center of passionate purple! Signed on raised oval Sterling Craft by Coro, with Coro in script. Excellent condition, with no wear on the gold wash. $42

SCARCE Signed Schrager Maltese Cross Pewter Brooch

This beautiful cross came to me several years ago, and now it's time to go home! For one thing, any signed Schrager is hard to find, but this is the only time I have ever seen this brooch. Even the 1940 unsigned huge butterflies are more plentiful than this beauty. Made of a polished pewter-like hammered metal, the prongs enclose a lovely blue speckled glass cabochon in the center. This is made to look like a handmade medieval piece which points to the 1960's medieval revival, but I estimate the date to be from mid 1950's through mid '70s. This jewel is marked in back SCHRAGER in block letter on an oval plaque. Along with the pin finding, it is also equipped with a pendant loop so you can wear it as a necklace if desired. Excellent condition. $68

Darling Little Molded Glass & Rhinestone Nosegay Pin

Unsigned, attributed to Coro. Late 1940s to early 1950s. This same pin has been seen with the Coro signature, but may have rubbed off of this pin, or was part of a paure and left unsigned. This beautifully made brooch offers prong set green molded glass rosebuds and pave crystal chatons accented by siam chatons. The smooth goldtone setting looks like vermeil, but it isn't. All the stones are clear and bright; the golden finish unworn except for a few fleabites in back. The jewel is 2 1/4" tall x 1 5/8" at the widest. Excellent condition. $28

Vintage Czech Rhinestone & Enamel Nosegay Pin

Dress for springtime and summer in this vintage nosegay pin from old Czechoslovakia. In bright gold tone, tiers of flowers, leaves and rhinestone buds blend together prettily. The flower is in two shades of pink, enameled to leave the edges gold; the same technique is used in the leaves, pale green with painted veins and shining gold edges. Gold tone wire leads to prong set oval rhinestones in red, blue, purple, turquoise and sapphire blue. This pin is 2 1/4" tall; the enamels are amazingly intact. The rhinestones, although the foil is undamaged, appear to be aging, but they are still colorful and strike sassy sparks. Marked in back on an applied oval, CZECHO. Very good condition. $38

1930s New England Glassworks Oblong Rhinestone Brooch

For a look both demure yet exciting, wear this old time filigree brooch directly under your collar. Made from darkened base metal, the lacy floral filigree octagon is set with multicolored rhinestones in beaded bezels. Signed in back, just under the pin are the letters NE inside the outline of a chalice the signature of New England Glassworks. Rising in a dome shape, the brooch measures 2 7/8" wide x 1 3/4" tall. Very Good condition. $52

Art Nouveau Sash Pin with Fancy Stone

Circa 1900. This big antique sash pin has an unusual design, with the raised metalwork and the colors of the stone. The designs are almost "psychedelic," but actually, many psychedelic designs from the 1960s and '70s were drawn from old Art Nouveau design. This is not a hollow stamping, but thick white metal engraved metal, with the central part of the design applied separately to the back. Even the enlarged image doesn't show the fine, threadlike lines texturing the recesses. I can't tell if the stone is semiprecious or ceramic. but it's beautifully colored, measuring about 7/8" wide. The brooch itself is 3" wide x 2" and pins with an open C-clasp. Condition is Very Good, with small areas of brassy discoloration in the metal. It's easy to find ways to wear these old sash pins--pin to a wide cloth sash to accentuate your waist, fasten a big scarf or tie for adding elongated lines or on a scarf pinned to a hat! $95
