Medieval
Look Maltese Cross Carnelian & Jade Glass
Here's a great, unusual brooch in pewter openwork, which has the look of old sterling. A large central piece of glass that looks like genuine carnelian is set openback in half prongs accented by jade glass openback boat shapes at each of the four stations and accented by bright emerald green rhinestones. Is this an unsigned Miracle? Seems more like a Medieval Revival piece. Circa date is 1955. The 2" brooch is heavy for its size and will make a very striking statement on a sweater or with a scarf. Excellent condition. $52

Vendome
Sterling Vermeil Blooming Rose Brooch
She is sure to treasure this quality sterling silver brooch. Layers and layers of textured curving petals centered around a pink prong set rhinestone. The petals and curving, exquisitely textured leaves offer a golden finish. The unfinished stem is darkened sterling, giving a nice contrast with the vermeil. This heirloom beauty is 3" tall with a 1 3/8" flower head. The rose rises a full 1" from the pin back. Signed (c)Vendome on one raised bar in back and STERLING on another raised bar behind a leaf, this jewelry is in excellent condition, with no worn finish. Weighs 15 grams. Excellent condition. $48

Accessocraft Heraldic Maltese Cross Brooch
Hailing from Accessocraft is this well designed Maltese cross from the 1960s. Four chunky dark red cabs (I'm fairly sure they are glass) with black veins highlight each side of the brooch along with loops of goldtone rope chain accented by faux pearls. In the center is the British coat of arms complete with French words Diu et mon droit, or, the God at my right. Also shown is the motto for the Order of the Royal Garter, Honi soit qui mal y pense, which means evil to him who evil thinks. Dimensions are 2 3/8" on all sides, and the brooch stands about 3/4" from the pinstem. You can also wear this striking jewel as a pendant by adding a chain and jump ring to one of the loops. Signed in back ACCESSOCRAFT. Excellent condition. $48

Limoges
Hand Painted on Transfer Porcelain Venus and Cupid Brooch. These kinds of pins are late 1940s French imports of porcelain creations. Such imports helped them rebuild after WWII. I just couldn't resist this colorful delight! Can you? The scene shows Venus holding an arrow away from a naughty Cupid. They are under a blue sky with cloudy wisps. It's hard to tell with this how much is transfer, but there is definite hand painting on the grass and flowers. The setting and open trombone clasp are European, the kind I've seen on other Limoges pins. The golden rope-twist frame supports the brass bezel which secures the porcelain very snugly. Brooch measures 2 1/4" in tall x 13/4" wide and is signed in back in green ink Limoges France. Condition of the porcelain is Excellent with no paint loss or fading. The brass setting is very good, with a bit of light tarnish spots that only add to the vintage value. $78

This circa 1925 brooch offers graceful movement in the openwork design in gilded base metal, with elements of both Victorian and Art Deco design. The applied decorations include curly-cues and zig-zag musical-note shaped designs, and flowers with tiny prong set blue pastes.
