Huge, Fabulous 1930's Sparkling Diamante Bow Brooch

The design of this rare brooch brings to mind a suave gentleman who wants to kiss you. Isn't he a dandy? This particular brooch is widely thought to be an early Eisenberg, but there is no signature and I can't find an exact duplicate in any ads or books, although there is a very similar style in Marcia Brown's Signed Beauties of Costume Jewelry on page 9. The thick pot metal casting features pave chatons still striking sparks after all these years. In the center is a large teardrop set openback in the midst of chaton chain. The diamante is generally still brilliant, although some of the larger stones at the top of the bow are getting dark around the edges, but in a uniform manner adding a delightfully vintage flair. This luxurious jewel stands about 3 1/2" tall and 2 1/2" wide at the bow. Fairly heavy for it's size, plan to wear this jewel on a coat, jacket, or another sturdy material, or pin it into a second layer of material or bra strap. Overall condition is Very Good. Enjoy! $155

Matisse Enameled Copper Blazing Autumn Leaf

For autumn, your most striking daytime look can be enhanced with this incredible enameled copper brooch by Matisse. The oak leaf is exquisite with realistic looking dark veins within the dark red layers, which are edged with with a field of black enamel full of copper sparkles. Copper studs rise from the red parts of the leaf, and acoiled copper tendril hovers over the top. This is an outstanding
2 1/4" x 2"brooch, signed (c)Matisse in script under the pinstem and is in absolutely Excellent condition. You will wear this beauty again and again; let it be your autumn signature piece. $45

New England Glassworks Large Filigree Blue Rhinestone Bow Brooch

NE Glass works jewels are practically indestructible; one can usually find them in great condition even after 70-80 years! Here's an unusual offering of 1930's bow brooch constructed in tiers. The lacy dark filigree gunmetal is busy with loops, frill and beaded openwork raised flowers. It's hard to see in the images, but there's a base layer that steps up into the raised interior bow. The slender bow is 3 3/4" long and rises 3/4" above the pinstem and is set with sapphire blue oval faceted glass stones in beaded cups. Wouldn't it be jazzy to wear directly under the color of a blouse or shirtwaist, like a bow tie? Marked N/E in a chalice on the back, this brooch is in Very Good condition. $62

Hand Painted Forget-Me-Nots and Rosebuds on Porcelain

Circa 1900. A unique arrangement of flowers is painted in a summertime bevy of beauty, with apple green grasses, blue forget-me-nots and pink rosebud against yellow and cream color glazes. Someone painted a beautiful thing for a friend; perhaps you can sense it's secret history in the old brass and heavy cool porcelain. Set in the usual 6 pronged brass setting, the brooch is equipped with an open C-clasps. Measuring 1 7/8" tall x 1 3/8" wide, the brooch is in Very Good condition, with thin gold band framing the artwork showing wear, and wear on the back of the brass setting. A beautiful antique hand painted porcelain brooch! $58

Unique Multicolor Dress Clip / Brooch signed ART.

ART is known for its unique jewelry, and probably no one else will have this circa 1960s clip brooch. The design seems Eastern, suggestive of a stylized letter from an Asian alphabet. The textured gold tone fitting is set with green, red, and blue cabochons. The back sports a combination clip mechanism and pin assembly. The ART(c) signature can be found on the back underneath the clip/pin assembly. Dimensions are 1 7/8" x 1 1/2". Excellent, clean condition. $45

Late Victorian Oriental Motif Sash Pin

This scarce and uniquely styled sash brooch is just the right gift for the woman who loves the exotic but seems to have everything! Hammered brass plates offer bezel set blue Bohemian glass tilted squares and applied Asian symbols. Oriental motifs were popular from the mid 19th century through the Art Nouveau period, but I think this is an unusual combination. This is a quality brooch, 3 5/8" wide x 2 1/4" tall with a good heft. Excellent condition. $90

Antique Victorian Large Shell Cameo of Dionysius

Circa 1880. This antique shell cameo depicts the Greek God Dionysius, also known to the Romans as Bacchus, the God of wine and fertility. This one is large and nicely carved, with good detail and no cracks or chips. The color of the relief carving is pale ivory on a background of pale carnelian. The cameo and bezel is prong set from the back within a gilded, etched and decorated base metal frame. One of these prongs has been replaced. The C-clasp & tube hinge work perfectly. Dimensions of the brooch in setting, are 2" tall x 1 5/8" wide. There is moderate finish loss on setting in back; it's actually not as glaring as the scan seems to depict. A beautiful antique genuine shell cameo brooch, in Very Good, clean condition. $185.

Chunky Black Beauty Rhinestone & Aurora Borealis Brooch

With golden leaves overlay. I've seen Weiss jewels with these exact leaves. Big black prong set teardrops and navettes, partially hidden by the golden textured leaves, are accented by Aurora Borealis AB chatons. The 2 3/8” x 1 7/8” jewel looks larger because it rises in a dome shape about 3/4" from the pinstem. In fact, there's enough room to easily use this beauty as a necklace enhancer, adding pizzazz to that string of beads. All stones are sparkling, Excellent condition Designer quality for the price of an unsigned beauty! $48

Antique Art Nouveau Amethyst Glass Snake Sash Pin

Circa 1890. A wonderful and unique sash pin like this one does not come to market often, for collectors love these old snake pins and tend to keep them forever. The incredible heavy brass oval base domes upward to present an enormous amethyst glass faceted stone, unfoiled and set openback. Hold the stone in place are two sinuously winding snakes engraved with crosshatching, along with softly shaped and engraved lilies against the decorated leaf & floral design base. This incredible ornament is 3 3/8" wide by 2 1/4" tall, rising just under 1 inch from the surface. Very Good condition; brass mounting, snakes & lilies are sound; stone has no chips or cracks, though the finish is very tarnished with some discoloration in back. But what an unforgettable grand jewel from Art Nouveau era! $155
