Roden
Bros Antique Sterling Silver Sash Pin For you today, a finely engraved sterling silver sash pin, so often worn by late Victorian and Edwardian ladies around the turn of the century. , The style was for loose clothing with cloth sashes; sometimes these large pins were used to pin a sash as a medieval style "girdle," a belt that hangs below the waist with lengths of ribbon or sash material flowing down. This one is marked both Sterling and 925 R + the Roden Bros. mark. This is a medium weight brooch about the thickness of a dime. Measurements are 2 3/4" x 2", and clasps with an open C-clasp. Great
Big Selini Mid-East Medallion Brooch
SOLDYou can really go with a mid-east look in this grand Selini brooch. The dark beaded and be-flowered metal openwork contributes to a lacy look. The brooch is decorated with faux pearls and assorted beads and teardrop cabs resembling lapis, turquoise, coral, carnelian and other faux gemstones set in varieties of half prongs. Perfect for a touch of the dramatic, perhaps in the center of a white blouse! The 2 5/8" jewels seems bigger, for it is dome shaped, rising about 3/4" from the pinstem. Near Excellent, with perfect stones and mild bends in the pinstem which do not effect utility. Signed on plate in back SELINI(c). | |

I believe the circular Truart brooches like this one were made in the early 1940s; if you every look through jewelry patents of that time, you will see this style type, a circle enveloping flowers and creatures. This is thin sterling, fashioned in flowing, dreamy shapes and many delightful details. Notice the darling seed pod tendril running to the inside right and curling below the larger bird. The circle itself is 2" in diameter, but the brooch extends 2 7/8" from tailfeathers to tailfeathers. The brooch is in Excellent condition and signed Truart Sterling on an artists' palate shaped in back. $40 |

Scarce
Weiss Painted Enamel Egg Brooch In years of buying costume jewelry, I have seen only a few enameled eggs by Weiss, and only one of this type of design; it was pink and it was already sold. This is a rare pin, probably made in the late 1960's, just before Weiss closed its doors. Weiss made a some highly collectible enameled pieces during those years, some of which are now being counterfeited; real ones, except for some of the enameled flower power pins, are all fairly hard to find and as far as I know, the eggs have not been faked. This one does have a textured back; but the texture is different from the kind found on Weiss counterfeits. The basic color is red, crossed on the diagonal with gold tone lines, making diamond motifs in which white flowers with green foliage are enameled. This unique brooch measures 2 1/4" tall x 1 1/2 wide" and stands 3/4" high from the surface. There is a small amount of wear to the enamel that can be seen with a loupe but nothing substantial. Very Good condition. Signed (c)Weiss in an oval in back. $95 |
