Reed & Barton

Robert, or Originals By Robert are marks of the Fashioncraft Co. started in the early 40s. Jewelry was always high in quality and pricey.

Rousseau is the signature for House of Rousseau Ltd. New York, in business during the 1950s. Not all the jewelry is signed, but if you see the distinctive fleur de lis finial at the end of a necklace chain, you know it's Rousseau. This jewelry is hard to find.

The necklace offers a lovely slanted design and can be worn at a maximum of 16". The bracelet clasps with a nice thick foldover at 7 1/4" and is 3/4" wide.  House of Rousseau Lavish Purple Fringe Necklace

When you're feeling passionately primitive, this necklace will reflect that mood and add a savage sparkle to blue or brown eyes. Though unsigned, the necklace is identified as House of Rousseau by the distinctive fleur-de-lis end piece. You  may find a pair of earrings or bracelet that mates! Heavy, ribbed purple swirled thermoset leaves are partially prong set into light gold tone textured metal and surrounded by faux  pearls and green rhinestone chatons.  Brass chain leads to an adjustable J-hook and finial. Huge Aqua & Pave Crystal Schrager Butterfly Brooch

Circa 1940, this brooch is paved with crystal chatons and set with 10 large oval rhinestones in a very saturated aqua--almost turquoise-- prong set in a silver plated pot metal openwork fitting. The dimensions are 3 3/4"" at the top wing span, 3" long, and 4 1/4" on the diagonal from upper wing tip to the opposite lower wingtip. The rhinestones are high in quality and still bright.  This jewel is unsigned, like most H.M. Schrager & Co  jewelry, but this particular brooch is featured in a Schrager advertisement published in 1942. You can see the ad in the Brunelti's book, A Tribute to America Costume Jewelry 1935-1950.

Condition is near-Excellent, sound finish, & bright rhinestones. Although pinpoints of foil are worn away on some of the oval aqua stones, this is  seen only from the back  and doesn't darken the stones or effect their sparkle   $120

Selro and Selini Selro and Selini are same corporation, and signed jewelry has occasionally been found with both signatures. But much of the jewelry, if not most, is unsigned. Whiting & Davis Victorian Revival Rose Painted Porcelain Set

One of my favorite sets by Whiting and Davis is this rose painted porcelain necklace, hinged bangle bracelet and clip on earrings. The lovely dark pink roses and surrounding green foliage is a transfer, but dabs of gold paint has been added by hand. In some of the pictures t this paint will appear as dark smudges. But the set is clean and ready to wear. The hanged bangle bracelet offers ornate design of leaves on both sides of the oval 3/4" x 5/8" porcelain. This bangle, complete with safety chain,  measures 5/8" at the widest part;  the inner diameter is 2 1/8" x 2 1/4". It is not signed, but obviously part of the set. The clip earrings are 1" and signed "Whiting & Davis Co" on clip. The rose pendant is gorgeous in it's ornate openwork frame, measures 1 1/2" (not counting bail.) It dangles from 22" chain with the Whiting and Davis hang tag. Bracelet and necklace are in Excellent condition, earring Very Good with minor wear on back.  Enjoy for $88

This piece by Whiting & Davis is forever immortalized in the book Costume Jewelry 202 by Julia Carol, seen in red on page 475.

Whiting & Davis Hand Painted Porcelain Portrait Bangle Bracelet

Circa 1960. No costume luxury was spared when Whiting and Davis made their famous hinged bangles. Here's a fantastic Victorian Revival piece, a porcelain painting imported from Limoges France, the famous Lady in Blue. The lady is hand painted over a transfer, giving an essential pearled look to her hair decoration and collar. How beautiful. The oval porcelain is encased in a silvertone bezel among intricate silvertone leaves, bows, and other openwork folderol which extends to the side of the bangle. This bracelet is signed Whiting & Davis Mesh Bags over the inside hinge, and you also get the Limoges signature in gold on the back of the porcelain.

The bracelet measures 1 1/2" wide at the portrait and 1/2" in back. The jewel fits a small to small-medium wrist without pinching; it's just a bit too tight on my regular medium wrist. Inner diameter is 2" x 2 1/4". Comes complete with safety chain.  Excellent condition.  Such a Highly collectible can become an heirloom in your family. $145

Not often seen, this great set of cameos are fashioned in high relief from frosted molded glass against a black surface. The Bacchanalian maidens, with grape leaves in their hair,  are absolutely luxurious. Cameos may at times appear prim & proper, but these ladies have a special message. The cameos are set in silvertone and have mirrored backs. The brooch is 2" x 2" and rises over an inch from the pin stem; in fact, there's enough room to gather an extra thick scarf for pinning, or thicker jacket fabric. The matching clip-on earrings are 7/8". All pieces are in Excellent condition. $75
